It does not discriminate on the basis of race or national and ethnic origin regarding admission, educational policies, scholarships, athletics, or other school-administered programs.
At Wilmington Christian Academy, high school academics are rooted in a biblical worldview and structured to prepare students for success in college and life. Our academic program combines rigorous coursework, diverse elective options, and opportunities for advanced study to help students grow intellectually, spiritually, and academically.
WCA offers one of the most comprehensive high school academic programs in the Wilmington area through a variety of diploma pathways—General, College Preparatory, and Honors. Each pathway has intentionally designed credit requirements that help students build a strong foundation in core subject areas while pursuing individual academic goals. Students are expected to complete a minimum of 24 credits for graduation, with increasing expectations for math, science, and world languages in more advanced pathways. This structure helps students prepare for the academic demands of post-secondary education while engaging deeply with their studies.
WCA provides multiple pathways to earn college credit while still in high school. Students can enroll in Advanced Placement (AP) courses designed to prepare them for nationally recognized College Board exams. Additionally, through partnerships with institutions such as Cape Fear Community College and Colorado Christian University, students may earn dual-credit or dual-enrollment credits that appear on both high school and college transcripts. These opportunities allow motivated students to challenge themselves academically and get a head start on college-level coursework.
College readiness is an integral part of the high school experience at WCA. Students receive guidance through personalized academic advising, course planning, and college entrance testing preparation, including PSAT/NMSQT, PreACT, and the ACT. These resources help students set goals, explore options, and build competitive college applications. Many WCA students achieve scores that allow them to place out of introductory college courses, giving them a strong advantage as they continue their education.
At Wilmington Christian Academy, every subject, from science to literature, is taught in a way that acknowledges God’s truth and helps students develop a biblical worldview. Teachers are committed Christians who guide students not only academically, but spiritually, encouraging them to engage Scripture in all areas of life.
WCA also offers ongoing academic support and enrichment through standardized testing, GPA guidance, and individualized attention so that students grow both in knowledge and character. Our faculty help students understand their strengths and address challenges with confidence.
WCA students consistently demonstrate achievement that reflects strong preparation and academic excellence. Through a mix of rigorous courses, faith-based instruction, and intentional college planning, graduates leave equipped for success in higher education, careers, and life of service to Christ.
WCA’s Middle School curriculum builds upon essential skills while introducing students to greater independence and critical thinking. Our program balances academic challenge with encouragement, helping students grow in confidence and responsibility.
A minimum of 24 credits, including required classes, is needed for graduation. Subjects taken and passed in other schools will be counted toward graduation at WCA. Below are the credits required in each discipline for the three diplomas offered.

The CREW program is designed to build unity, leadership, and school spirit among middle school students. Through friendly competition and shared experiences, students develop teamwork skills while strengthening positive relationships with peers and faculty. CREW provides a structured and engaging environment where students grow in character and community.
Good conduct is encouraged and reinforced through the CREW program. Students earn points for their crew by demonstrating responsibility, respect, and positive behavior, including receiving Patriot Awards. Points may also be deducted for poor conduct, helping students understand accountability and the importance of personal responsibility.
Crazed Crew Competition (CCC) days are scheduled monthly events where crews gather in the gym or on the field for a full class period of energetic, organized competition. These activities promote teamwork, healthy competition, and school spirit while giving students an opportunity to build camaraderie in a fun and supportive environment.
Each Monday, middle school students participate in a dynamic chapel service featuring special speakers, worship, and engaging presentations. Chapel provides a meaningful time of spiritual encouragement, helping students grow in their faith and apply biblical principles to everyday life.
Throughout the school year, students participate in several outreach initiatives, including both small and large-scale service projects within surrounding communities. These opportunities are designed to cultivate servant leadership and encourage students to demonstrate the love of Christ by helping those in need.
Crew Calls are unannounced, high-energy challenges that add excitement to the school day. At any time, crews may be called out to participate in a quick competition in the gym or on the field. These surprise events promote unity, enthusiasm, and teamwork, with points awarded to the winning crew.
Each middle school grade participates in an annual class trip designed to reinforce classroom learning, strengthen friendships, and create meaningful, shared experiences. These carefully selected trips extend education beyond the classroom and help students connect academic concepts to real-world application.
Sixth grade students visit WonderWorks, an interactive science museum that combines hands-on exhibits with experiential learning. Through engaging activities in physics, space exploration, engineering, and technology, students apply classroom concepts in a fun and memorable environment. This trip encourages curiosity, critical thinking, and collaborative problem-solving while building camaraderie among classmates.
Seventh graders participate in the Fort Caswell Marine Studies program, where they explore coastal ecosystems through guided field studies and hands-on scientific investigation. Students study marine life, environmental systems, and coastal geography while participating in team-based learning activities. This immersive experience reinforces science curriculum objectives while developing independence, teamwork, and leadership skills.
Eighth grade students travel to Jamestown Settlement, the American Revolution Museum, and Colonial Williamsburg, bringing American history to life. Through interactive exhibits, historical reenactments, and immersive educational programs, students gain a deeper understanding of early American history and the foundations of our nation. This trip strengthens historical knowledge while encouraging students to reflect on the influence of faith, leadership, and civic responsibility throughout American history.
