Dr. Cathy Dotson serves as the Preschool & Elementary Principal at Wilmington Christian Academy, bringing more than 32 years of experience in Christian education as both a teacher and administrator. Her leadership is grounded in a deep commitment to academic excellence, biblical truth, and the spiritual formation of students.
Dr. Dotson is passionate about partnering with families and faculty to create a nurturing, Christ-centered environment where young learners are supported academically, spiritually, and socially during their most formative years.

Dr. Dotson’s academic preparation reflects a lifelong commitment to instructional excellence and educational leadership. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from Pensacola Christian College in 1993, followed by a Master of Science in Educational Leadership from the University of Memphis in 1997. She completed her formal education with a Doctor of Education (Ed.D.) in Instructional Leadership from Nova Southeastern University in 2010, equipping her with advanced expertise in curriculum development, leadership, and school administration.
With more than 32 years of teaching and administrative experience, Dr. Dotson has served in a variety of Christian educational settings across the country. Her professional background includes teaching at Pensacola Christian Academy in Pensacola, Florida and Macon Road Baptist School in Memphis, Tennessee. She later served in leadership roles at Berean Christian Schools in West Palm Beach, Florida and as Dean of Education at Tennessee Temple University in Chattanooga, Tennessee.
These experiences have shaped her approach to instructional leadership, faculty development, and student success, while reinforcing her commitment to Christ-centered education.
Dr. Dotson continues to invest in the next generation of educators through higher education. She currently serves as an Adjunct Professor at Liberty University and an Adjunct Professor at Bob Jones University, where she teaches and mentors future teachers and educational leaders.
Outside of her professional responsibilities, Dr. Dotson is involved in the local community as a member of the Cape Fear Garden Club, reflecting her appreciation for service, fellowship, and community engagement.
Dr. Dotson holds a North Carolina State Department of Education Administrator License and a North Carolina State Department of Education Teacher License. She has also earned the NCCSA Advanced Professional Administrator Certificate in Educational Administration, reflecting her commitment to professional excellence and continued growth in Christian school leadership.
Dr. Dotson actively contributes to Christian education through service on national boards and advisory teams. She currently serves on the American Association of Christian Schools Accreditation Commission and supports educator preparation through the Bob Jones University School of Education Advisory Board and the Pensacola Christian College School of Education Advisory Board. She also serves as a member of the Veritas Baptist College Board of Directors.

WCA faculty and administrators are highly qualified professionals who meet or exceed state requirements and hold relevant degrees, certifications, and professional credentials. Many also have extensive experience in Christian education and leadership.
Faith is integrated into every aspect of the WCA experience. Instruction, discipline, and student development are guided by biblical principles, helping students grow academically while developing strong Christian character.
